
GUIDELINES ON WLA ENDORSEMENTS
1. GOAL:
Establish general guidelines for considering endorsement of those candidates and/or matters which support and/or uphold the WLA Mission.
2. PROCEDURE:
A. WLA shall use reasonable efforts to communicate to interested parties that it will consider making endorsements.
B. Only those candidates actively seeking WLA endorsement shall be considered.
C. In making its determination on whether or not to endorse, WLA shall take into account factors set forth below. Weight given to any one factor shall be in the sole discretion of the individual Board member.
D. Upon majority vote of a quorum of the board, WLA may endorse one or more candidates, may decline making an endorsement, or may decline taking up the issue of endorsement.
3. FACTORS:
• actively seeks WLA’s endorsement
• is qualified (based upon your definition giving consideration to the points below) -professional skill / ability / intellect -nature / scope / years of experience -temperament / demeanor for the position -impartiality -decisiveness -ethics / integrity -social awareness / community involvement -likelihood of getting appointment
• adopts WLA mission
• is female
• is a WLA member
• any other factor not otherwise specified which may weigh on the decision
4. TYPES:
A. Local, State, and Federal Judiciary
B. Boards, Commissions
C. Issues relevant to WLA
D. All other as determined solely by WLA

Please join the WLA for its July Mentorship Luncheon on Thursday July 9, 2026, featuring an in-person conversation with Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner's Global General Counsel, Laura Giokas. As Global General Counsel, Laura is responsible for managing and coordinating all firm-related legal matters. In this role, Laura also advises the firm on strategic and operational decisions and develops firmwide protocols and policies in the risk management area. The WLA will give priority in registration for this luncheon to its target audience, WLA members who are 36 and under or have been practicing five years or less. 2026 Unity Summer Social | July 23, 2026 | 5:30PM - 7:30PM
Join the WLA and our co-host organizations at a Happy Hour to celebrate our efforts to promote equality and opportunity in the legal profession. This event will be held at Chico Bueno, a brand-new Mexican concept opening in The Grove this summer.
The Unity Summer Social is presented by the WLA in partnership with the Missouri Asian-American Bar Association (MAABA), Mound City Bar Association (MCBA), Hispanic Bar Association of St. Louis (HBA), South Asian Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis (SABA), and Italian American Lawyers of St. Louis.
